Conductor

Philip Singleton

Conductor-composer Philip Singleton is a musician in high demand, working regularly within a number of high-profile institutions in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Hampshire. He is an experienced conductor, having given performances of established repertoire and new music in Britain and abroad. Appointed Principal Conductor and Musical Director of the Marlborough Concert Orchestra from April 2022, he is excited to be working with the orchestra as it continues its exploration of the symphonic repertoire.

Highlights of Philip’s conducting career have included appearances at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the UK premiere of Manifestations by the French composer Gérard Grisey, and the first performances of much of his own music. These have included the premieres of his Chamber Symphony (2015) and of his Symphonie Commémorative, which was commissioned to mark the centenary of the armistice of 1918.
