Winter 2019 – Caterina Isaia

Our winter concert on Saturday 7 December 2019 featured a beautiful performance of Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor, Op 129 by young ‘cellist Caterina Isaia. A student at the Yehudi Menuhin school, Caterina played with a brilliance and passion that was much appreciated by the audience.

The choice of a ‘cello piece to be the centre of our concert programme was very fitting as we remembered our former conductor (and professional ‘cellist) Christopher Irby, who died in August 2019. Raffle money raised at the concert was donated to West Berkshire Mencap in his memory. This was a charity close to Christopher’s heart as his grandson has greatly benefitted from their services. We were very pleased to be able to give them a sum of £219.50. The rest of the concert programme is shown below.
