In July 2017 we were pleasantly surprised to receive a ‘hello’ email from Linda Lloyd, the manager of a concert orchestra in New Zealand (above) saying:
I’m the manager of our local orchestra which started up only 3 years ago in Blenheim the main town of the district of Marlborough in the top of the South Island, New Zealand.
We noticed when we googled our orchestra’s name that your orchestra has just about the same name as ours… we are the ‘Marlborough Civic Orchestra’. We have very similar aims and objectives and just wanted to make contact with your group to say hi!
We’d love to see if you were interested in keeping in contact. I don’t know how useful this would be to either of us, but you never know! Just being in touch with another orchestra with similar aims and objectives to ours could be great, and you can let your members know that there’s another MCO on the other side of the world!
Maybe one day one of us will come and visit you all!
Anna has replied, so we’ll let you know how the connection progresses. They certainly look like a fun bunch!
