In the summer of 2016 Marlborough Concert Orchestra will begin its 10th anniversary celebrations with a spectacular concert including Beethoven’s Symphony No 2 in D major and Rossini’s Overture from Il signore Bruschino.
The orchestra was launched in June 2006 and we are fortunate to still have some original players alongside more recent recruits. Over the years MCO has had three principal conductors – Gordon Nelson, Christopher Irby and Roselise Gentile – and guest conductors including Andrew Baatz and David Price.
Previous members of the orchestra will be invited to attend the Summer concert on Saturday 18 June where there will be special interval refreshments including Rossini cocktails and William Tell cakes. The committee is also planning a souvenir programme and a display.
Our Christmas concert on Saturday 3 December will finish the tenth year on a high, with a performance of the Brahms Double Concerto in A minor, Op. 102 by MCO favourites Irene Enzlin (‘cello) and Mathieu van Bellen (violin).
We hope you’ll join us for one, or both, of these concerts and help us celebrate ten years of music making in Marlborough.
